Computer World has an article about the top 10 “dying” or dead computer skills. Low and behold ColdFusion is listed.

I am getting sick and tired of people dissing CF. I really think that all the negative is due to the fact that it has been around for so long. In the world of fly-by-night languages ::cough cough:: ruby ::cough cough:: that if it isn’t new and buggy it isn’t “cool”.

I love ColdFusion because it allows me to get things done and fast. I was able to build a whole marketplace in almost 4 weeks and in my spare time! It would have taken a team of developers to do it in 2 months what I did in 4 weeks… did I say that was in my SPARE TIME!

So to all the haterz get a life. ColdFusion is around, it’s awesome and I am no less a programmer if I use it.

done.

I couldn’t agree more. I have been a CF programmer and supporter since the days of Jeremy Allaire. Back then people were complaining that anything tag based couldn’t be considered a “programming language”, what a bunch of garbage! Sure there wasn’t much to the language way back then as a new server technology still reaching it’s stride, but that surely isn’t the case today. Why is it that you don’t hear those with CF skills casting verbal spew about other languages? It’s simple, programmers that use CF are simply smarter!!!

Yeah I just can’t get over how much people down it. I wish there was a place I could rant about it… :-)
