Who made the Kardashian’s Famous?

So I am very intrigued by the human psychology behind fame and what makes someone “famous”. I was flipping through the channels and watched about 45 seconds of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and thought “Am I suppose to know who these people are?” and then my next thought was “What the Heck? Is that Bruce Jenner!?” Sure ’nuff it was so I had to Google… oddly enough the 45 seconds I watched was them discussing the fact that Kim was the most googled person that month. I think it is because nobody knows who these people are and they have to google them to find out.

So I google and I find this. It appears that they are all the offspring of O.J.’s lawyer, Robert Kardashian, and that really was Bruce Jenner the olympian who married the mother.

So my question is… what makes people famous? We are a nation of, as Perez Hilton would call them, Celebutards; Celebrities who are celebrities for no reason whatsoever.

Baffles me!

Just give it another chance. It airs Sundays at 10/9c on E! Keeping Up With the Kardashians is a cool show about a modern day Brady Bunch….almost, don’t you agree?

I am sure the show is mildly entertaining if you like that type of thing. But this is also coming from the same channel that put the Anna Nicole show on. My commentary was on the plague of fame and what little it takes for someone to become famous.

Typing “Why are the Kardashians famous” at ask.com brought me to your blog. I guess I now know who these people are and it leaves me to wonder why I even bothered to inquire. They are the offspring of a celebrity lawyer – big, freaking whoop! Thanks for answering my question, though.

@mPelayo – No problem! Glad I could be of assistance :-)

The Kardashians are famous because they’re willing to be and have the money/connections to make it happen. They just dress up, act slutty and superficial, and the papparazzi do the rest. America has a love/hate relationship with fame, and they exemplify this perfectly (like Paris Hilton). People wish they could live carefree, wealthy lives and yet watch these people just to make fun and degrade them. Meanwhile no one’s paying attention to amazing scientific breakthroughs or the sale of our government to private interests. How sick!

I googled “Kardashian psychologist” because I wanted to know how some professional psychologists (with inside information) view the Kardashian family. I want to confirm (or refute) my assumption that the Kardashian family as we know it is much more than the glitz and glam. I feel the show exists to show the viewers how being famous and having a lot of money and media power doesn’t equal “the good life.” Otherwise we’d see them having it. Instead we see people stuck in the same prison the viewers may be in: slave to fears, ruled by egos, fearfully making money doing jobs that make money but not emotional fulfillment. Alcohol abuse, and desecration of what’s sacred. The tune of Muse’s resent song “Uprising” floats in my mind…
